But I am really, really, truly curious…
Why is Tahno white…
He’s a water bender…which means he is descended from one of the water tribes, even if he isn’t from the water tribes himself…but he’s so…not…Inuit. At all. I just really don’t understand because he’s the only water bender I recall seeing in either show that is so pale.I still like Tahno…
He just confuses my brain…
SOMEBODY HELP MEEEEEE.
I was mulling over this with my sister a while back…
I think it’s because of how multicultural Republic City is. Republic City was originally a Fire Nation colony, but now has immigrants and multicultural families from all four of the nations.
Although most of the benders fit the more genetic/visual platform (Firebenders with amber colored eyes, light green eyed/olive skinned Earthbenders, Inuit-esque Waterbenders), there is still the mixed bloodlines running striated through out the city. Ergo, waterbenders who are light skinned.
This is displayable in real-life scenarios. In many countries, major city dwellers to suburban families can name multiple ethnicity and origins in their family, but have varying appearances.
I think that, like most waterbenders in Republic City, those like Tahno and Hasook are descendents from water tribe waterbenders. Mixing with different ethnicities over time, just like in real life, will change appearance and give you attributes from your family members. He is just “so white” simply because he’s a multi-generation waterbender descended from a mixed genealogy.
…I really hope that made as much sense as it did in my head.

The more I look at the new Kyurem’s, the more I think, “What the fuck was Nintendo on when they thought these were a good idea?”
Yes, lasgna, yes this is very good.

My boyfriend bought Amnesia a week ago.
We’ll be on the phone, he’s playing Amnesia. Hanging out in orchestra, talking about Amnesia. At his house about to have awesome snuggles while watching scary movies? Michael, put your laptop away, we’ll play Amnesia later I promise.
